The Crabs had another fun outing sharing Pasir Ris mangroves with lots of families!
As usual, it's the kids who spot all kinds of cool mangrove critters!
Oh dear, where are all the crabs?! It was very dry and hot the last few weeks. So we spotted very few Tree-climbing crabs at the start of the boardwalk. But there were more crabs deeper in the mangrove forest where it's cooler and wetter.
But there's still lots of other life. Like this lively little Plantain squirrel! The forest was full of the sounds of cicadas and kingfishers too.
This young lady spotted lots of spiders! In the trees, on the boardwalk and more!
The tide was low and so there were not as many Giant mudskippers either. But we did spot quite a few of these enormous googly eyed fishes!
Ooo, one of the sharp-eyed young ones spotted an 'inch-worm'. It's not really a worm but probably a kind of caterpillar.
Fascinating to watch it move.
At the end of the tour, we all gathered at the jetty where we can easily spot lots of exciting wildlife!
There were several jellyfishes in the stream, including a large bluish one!
Also a school of circling fishes, and halfbeaks and a small archerfish too. The herons were still at the nest and we saw a White breasted waterhen as well.
Lounging on a branch high up on a mangrove tree was a small Malayan water monitor!
The jetty is also a great spot for the kids to draw about their trip.
And proud mums and dad take photos of their artistic work.
The Tan family shares the highlights of our trip today!
As Deshawn illustrates, we sure had a lot of people on our tour today! 50 kids and mums and dads!
Yes indeed, Pasir Ris mangroves has lots of life and we should treasure it.
Sankar got the most difficult job of the day. Persuading kids to give us their drawings!
Thankfully, most of the kids generously gave their drawings to him. Here's all the wonderful drawings shared by the kids!
Sadly, we didn't see any Dog-faced water snakes again on this trip. Hopefully, nothing serious has happened to them and that they will come back soon.
Thanks to Ley Kun, Pei Yan and Sankar for guiding today. And the 50 kids, mums and dads who made the effort to join us!
The Naked Hermit Crabs' next free walk is at Chek Jawa.
